Geoff finally brings his game to the final event at Kidderminster. He wins some of the bottles of wine he has sponsored this year. Three bottles and 31 points. What a good day. 14 on the front and a strong 17 on the back. A couple of birdies for good measure too. The birdie on the last finds him with the day by one point ahead of me on 30 points. 15 and 15 sees finally a consistent round but not enough to win the Caratella Cup. In third place on 29 is Phil making a resurgence again and am sure he was very pleased with his efforts too.

A great day for all. It’s a shame it had to end. The weather? What can I say? I won’t say anything at all. Considering the forecast once again it was a blinder. The breakfast as usual was fantastic and the course looked and played very well. Greens were disappointing though as they were very slow. It looked like they had been treated, thus making it very difficult to judge. I think a few people did struggle with them.

Despite the mix up with the buggies we got there eventually and got back dry (on the outside). It was great to see Mark again who really helped Richard with his game. As Rob said, from hero (last event) to zero (bottom) at this event. Alan wins the Caratella Cup by the narrowest of margins, which is how it should be. Well done Alan for beating me to it and Geoff who makes a late surge by coming in third place.

In the back of the newsletter you will see the roll of honour for this year with a couple of blank spaces that have not been determined yet.
What a great year it has been again. Just a big shame that the defending champion of the Caratella Cup didn’t play and that there were less players at events than ever before.

The next event is the presentation evening on Saturday 16th November 2024. The cost and menu choices are at the back. Please get everything (numbers/money/selection) to Phil asap. Please do not leave it to the last minute. The full itinerary is below. Hoping to see you all there with loads of friends and family.

I will circulate and notify details for when the AGM will be but for now let’s enjoy presentation evening and get as many people going as we can.
