Caratella Cup
Shane on you for winning. It was a harrowing experience for the rest of you to see Shane winning and then flying off to Cyprus. Talk about rubbing it in. With 23 points he wins the day by pipping the return of Stuart on 22 points. A valuable 4 pointer on the 9th helped a great for Shane. Two very similar rounds from both players but the 9th was the difference. Phil McShane has made himself a front runner for the Caratella Cup in my final year as he comes in third place with 19 points on countback on the day.
Overall, it has not been a great scoring event with only 2 players scoring above 20 points.
It was great to see guests again at our events. The usual suspects that support the society every year on a regular basis despite not joining. However, they keep coming back every year showing support either at events or weekends away.
The course (as usual in my opinion) was not what I expected. Nothing stood out on the course except the nice, plush clubhouse. I think all of us if not most were very disappointed with the inconsistent and bumpy greens. Can’t believe they were like that at the end of April.

The fairways were not great and having to use 2 temporary tees was also disappointing.
It’s a course I won’t be visiting again, especially at the price we paid and what we got. There are much better and value for money courses. I thought it was poor condition and can’t remember a hole would say wow that was great, not even one.
St Mellion 2025 weekend away. Can I ask everyone that is going to the weekend away to pay their remaining balance of £300 or whatever you have left to pay by 12th May 2025 please. Please let me know once you have done this. We have filled all 28 places (originally 24). I think everyone is now looking forward to the weekend once they have paid the remaining balance.
We move onto the next event which is Radcliffe Golf Club on Sunday 25th May 2025. Please get your monies into me if you intend to go.
Hopefully this course will be better and reach our (my) expectations. See you there.
